General Maintenance & Operation

NOTE: During operation, the pump suction strainer must always be completely submerged in the liquid to be pumped. If the pump has been used for liquids other than clean water, it should be flushed through with clean water immediately after use.

Periods of Inactivity
If the pump is taken out of operation for a long period, it should be drained.
Pumps with base plate can be drained via the drain plug.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Before starting work on the pump/motor, make sure that the electricity supply has been switched off and that it cannot be accidentally switched on. During normal operation, the pump is maintenance free.

Cleaning the Pump Suction Strainer
To clean the suction strainer, proceed as follows:

Place the pump in horizontal position.
Remove the suction strainer cover by slackening the three screws with a screwdriver.
Clean the inside of the suction strainer.
Check that the slots of the suction strainer are free from foreign bodies.
Refit the suction strainer cover and reinstall the pump.

Checking the Motor Shaft If the motor does not operate and the shaft does not rotate when the electricity is switched on or the float is activated, it must be checked whether all rotating parts can rotate freely. Proceed as follows:

Place the pump in horizontal position.
Remove the suction strainer cover by slackening the three screws with a screwdriver.
Slacken the self- locking nut and turn the motor shaft clockwise.
Refit the suction strainer cover and reinstall the pump.
